Occ Summary
Perform routine and complex procedures to obtain data for use in thediagnosis of clinical disorders of the nervous system in at least one ofthe following modalities of Neurodiagnostics: Electro encephalography(EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), Epilepsy Monitoring (CLTM) .
Work Performed
Level 1- Perform one of the followin g END study: EEG or Evoked Potentials.- Explains testing procedure to p atient and family using age appropriateguidelines.- Accurately takes anddocuments a pertinent history from the patient orchart.- Sets-up patien t for appropriate study to include: patient, paperwork,room and equipme nt.- Runs study with appropriate documentation on study, observation of thepatient, troubleshooting equipmentand physiological artifacts,distin guishing normal from abnormal and utilizing appropriate resourcesto perf orm study.- Recognizes and takes appropriate action to respond to evolvi ng patientcare needs.- Demonstrates proper cleaning procedures for the p atient, room andequipment after each study.- Utilizes down time for trai ning, cleaning equipment and readingeducational materials.- Demonstrates ability to apply knowledge to different testingsituations to include re gular participation in the on-call schedule,working independently on 2nd , 3rd and weekend shifts and EEG OR.- Performs needed maintenance on equ ipment to includecommunication ofproblem to co-workers, appropriate ven dor or the supervisor.Level 2- Perform all duties of the Level 1.- Perfo rm two of the following END studies: EEG, Evoked Potentials,Epilepsy Mo nitoring, and float resource to the sleep lab.- Maintains registry in on e of the following areas: EEG or EvokedPotentials.- Has computer skill s to correct duplicate file names, incorrect historynumbers, starting pa tients under the wrong names, networking issues,lost files, appending pa tient studies, etc.- Develops Clinical Standards and protocols.Level 3- Perform all duties of the Level 1 and 2.- Perform three of the following END studies: EEG, Evoked Potentials,Epilepsy Monitoring, Epilepsy OR, and float resource to the sleep lab.- Maintains registry in one of the f ollowing areas: EEG, EvokedPotentials, or Epilepsy Monitoring.- Trouble shoots equipment and lab issues independently, considered anequipment su per user.- Generate requisitions for patient studies.- Processes daily c harges.- Perform minimum number of hours designated a year as charge tec h.

Level 1Level 1 performs one modality of Neurodiagnostics, 10 hours of CE,selects 2 choices from a li st of options for professional growth (e.g.,member of national organizat ion, committee work).Level 2Level 2 performs two modalities of Neurodiag nostics, 12 hours of CE,selects 3 choices from a list of options for pro fessional growth andmaintains clinical ladder requirements.Level 3Level 3 performs three modalities of Neurodiagnostics, 16 hours of CE,selects 5 choices from a list of options for professional growth andmaintains cl inical ladder requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Education: (All Levels) Associate's degree in neurodiagnostic technology (or comparable), biological, health science or related field required. Bachelor's degree in biological, health science or related field preferred.
Experience
Experience: Level 1: With Associate's degree in neurodiagnostic technology (or comparable), no experience required. With Associate's degree in a biological, health science, or related field, six months of direct patient care experience OR one year of non- patient care healthcare, laboratory, or research experience. With a Bachelor's degree in biological, health science, or related field, no experience required. Level 2: Two years experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology required. Level 3: Five years experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology required. A Bachelor's degree in biological or health science can substitute for two years of experience.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Level 1 preferred. Competency and/or registry in one modality of Neurodiagnostic Technology Level 2 Competency in two modalities of Neurodiagnostic Technology required. Registry in one modality required. Level 3 Competency in three modalities of Neurodiagnostic Technology required. Registry in one modality required. Two registries preferred.
