Occ Summary
Assume responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patientsunder the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in patient carearea. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordancewith the scopeof the LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board ofNursing.
Work Performed
Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under thesupervision ofa registered nurse or physician. Nursing care is guidedby the physicia norders and the nursing plan of care. Patient responseto care is reporte dtoa registered nurse for evaluation, interventionand modification of th eplan of care. Assistother health care personnelinthe delivery of patien t care.Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performanceo fvarious diagnostic procedures.Evaluate nursing care with emphasis onnur sing procedures and patientresponses; assist in the delivery of nursingc are and selection ofnursing priorities.Assist in the development andimpl ementation of general policies andprocedures to provide for the emotiona l and physical comfort and safetyof patients; participate in the formula tion of new policies.Participate in maintaining the environment ofcarein cluding equipmentand other material resources.Participate in theidentifi cation of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities a nd assists in performance improvementactivities.Assist with control of m aterial resources and maintenance; assist inappraisal of effectiveness o fmaterial and equipment and report anyequipment malfunctions tocharge n urse.Participate in in-service education programs and other conferencesw ithin the service.Assist in the training of new employees.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
