Job Summary: VUMC Temp Force has a full-time opportunity for a certified Medical Assistant at our Cancer Clinic on the main Vanderbilt campus.The Medical Assistant supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assist with patient and family education and communication with patient's health care team.
Vanderbilt Temp Force is operated by Human Resources at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. It was created to connect temporary talent to all areas of VUMC. Temp Force places diverse and skilled personnel to departments across the Medical Center. Working as a temporary employee lets you showcase your talents, education, and skills while exploring the various jobs Vanderbilt offers and potentially find permanent employment.
The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), and a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Additionally, we are the only system in Middle Tennessee to receive Magnet Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Cancer Clinic services include medical and surgical oncology consult and follow up appointments comprised of the following medical oncology subspecialties - thoracic, gastroenterology, urology, melanoma, sarcoma, neuro, head and neck, and pain and symptom management. Surgical oncology subspecialties include gastroenterology, thoracic, gynecology, interventional radiology, neurosurgery, and general oncology. Procedures performed at the appointment include (but not limited to) wound care and dressing change, colposcopies, lumbar puncture, para/thoracentesis, biopsies, nerve block and medication injections. The Cancer Clinic is open from 7:00 am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday and provides approximately 45,000 patient visits a year.
