Coordinate and perform a variety of duties associ ated with appointmentscheduling for clinic visits, studies and procedure s. Typically servesas the first point at which a patient is registered i nto Duke HealthSystem.
Review and coor dinate appointment requests, determine appropriateservices, physician a nd appropriateness of setting.Identify correct patient in Maestro Care, verify patient demographic andinsurance data.Notify patients of co-payme nt requirements and outstanding balances.Coordinate labs and procedures in accordance with phsyician preferences.Notify patients of testing dat e, time and location.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication.Basic PC and data entry skills. Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette.Demonstrated ab ility to organize and prioritize work, provide oral andwritten instructi ons, interact tactfully with customers and establishand maintain effecti ve relationships with others.Must be able to apply specific departmental policies rules andregulations relating to verifying patient information , collectingpayments and maintaining records and forms.
