VA Northern Indiana Health Care System is seeking innovative Nursing Assistants to become part of our Healthcare Team. This is an open and continuous posting in which you will identify the areas in which you are interested in working. Areas include inpatient areas to provide care to our Nation's Veterans. Responsibilities The incumbent turns and positions patients to maintain proper body alignment, lifts, ambulates, and transfers patients. He/she promotes the physical independence of the patient by encouraging and teaching individual patients and groups of patients in self-care activities, such as progressive steps in personal hygiene, bathing, and oral care, also assists in teaching and encouraging other care activities such as eating, dressing, undressing, and bladder and other training as needed. He/she prepares patients for meals, feeds, and assists those requiring assistance. In addition, will take, record vital signs, weigh, perform neurological checks, and circulatory checks. The incumbent will lead by example in defining a customer service culture to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and civility.
