Full Time, Day Shift
You Will Be Responsible For:
Evaluates and monitors nutritional status of hospitalized patients ranging from newborn to geriatric populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns, using established standards of care.
Develops and implements an individualized plan for nutrition intervention in accordance with the patientâ™s medical program goals and objectives, nutrition prescription, and self-management training.
Utilizes hospital policies and procedures to provide timely and appropriate nutrition intervention and therapy within the scope of practice defined by the hospital.
Provides appropriate documentation that summarizes the nutrition care plan in the patientâ™s medical record, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis plan, implementation, and progress toward goals.
Identifies educational needs and provides current, hospital approved, nutrition education that is sensitive to the patientâ™s learning need, condition, readiness to learn, literacy, hearing language and age.
Serves as the nutrition expert, educator and liaison to medical staff and allied health personnel.
Participates in community projects and education as assigned.
Assists in achieving compliance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations standards, with other accrediting organizations, and with regulatory agency standards, including state and federal.
Participates in planning and developing nutrition-related policies, procedures, and goals.
Participates in the hospitalâ™s performance improvement processes.
What You Will Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND).
Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or related area required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
One year of experience in acute care setting preferred.
Experience using Cerner electronic medical record.
Acute Care and Rehabilitation experience.
Masterâ™s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or nutrition related field.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Florida Department of Health Dietitian/Nutritionist license.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
The Clinical Dietitian works closely with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy that are integrated and compatible with the patientâ™s medical program goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice protocol/guidelines; managing resources in a cost-effective manner; participating in performance improvement efforts; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.
