Overview The Medical ICU at the University of Minnesota Medical Center is a newly remodeled 19 bed critical care unit. We care for patients with many different diagnoses including: multi system organ failure, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, influenza, sepsis, renal failure, GI bleed, pre/post bone marrow transplant, pre organ transplant (kidney/liver/lung), overdoses, and respiratory/cardiac arrest. Therapies we utilize include hypothermia, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), paralytics, and proning. Our complex, high-acuity patients require continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intense medication management, ongoing critical thinking, and excellent communication with team members and families.
