Vice President Chief Medical Officer
SCL Health System Services
You. As the Chief Medical Officer you bring strong leadership talents to inspire, guide, and grow our Hospital Medical Staff as we provide the highest quality of medical care to our patients at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Working as a key senior leader member at SCL Health, Good Samaritan Medical Center, you will strive to ensure that the organization meets the mission and strategic objectives set forth by the Board and executive leadership while promoting a positive and engaging work environment. As a servant leader you embody the SCL Health leadership behaviors:
Us. Good Samaritan Medical Center is a 234-bed Acute Care Level II Trauma Center located in Lafayette, Colorado, northwest of Denver. Growth has been significant since our opening in December 2004. In response to this growth, GSMC has expanded the capacity of many of its services in partnership with Kaiser Permanente Colorado, employed and our community provider partners. Our premier service lines include Cardiovascular, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Trauma Surgery, Urology, Cancer Center, Primary Stroke Center, a baby-friendly birthing center, and a Level II NICU, Emergency Services. In 2020 we earned a designation as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. We’re especially proud of our people, who helped make us one of Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals for the 3rd year in a row; one of only 2 hospitals in CO to be among this elite group this year. Additionally, we received a Leapfrog Safety Grade A for Fall 2020, a Leapfrog Top General Hospital Award in 2020, and was named among Newsweek’s Best US Hospitals and Best Maternity Hospitals in 2021. Good Samaritan is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. We have two Magnet-designated hospitals, and others, including Good Samaritan on the Magnet journey. Our mission is to bring health and hope to the poor, the vulnerable, our communities, and each other. As Chief Medical Officer you would report to the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for SCL Health and matrix to the President for Good Samaritan Medical Center. You will interface closely with the other care site CMOs across the health system to advance clinical integration, leverage our skill and scale and to promote appropriate standardization and â??systemnessâ?? of SCL Health. The cornerstone of this role is the development of meaningful relationships and ongoing dialogue and communication with leaders and other members of the hospital medical staff, work in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and their leaders to improve clinical outcomes; the ultimate result being the achievement of the â??ideal patient experienceâ?? coupled with providing an engaging environment for all clinicians to practice medicine and provide care. Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, we’ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. As an Executive, you would receive additional benefits including two times salary basic life insurance, as well as reimbursement for tuition, cell phone, professional dues and subscriptions. We also offer financial wellness tools, retirement savings and deferred compensation plans and an additional supplemental retirement plan for executives. To show our commitment to you and to assist with your transition into our organization, we may also offer a sign-on and relocation stipend and reimbursement when applicable. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the At Risk Compensation (ARC) Plan. This plan enables SCL Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The ARC Award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected SCL Health Board-approved goals.
Your day. Working as a senior leader at Good Samaritan Medical Center, the CMO shall embody and value the â??person-centeredâ?? mindset; ensure that the highest levels of patient safety, quality of care and evidence based medical standards are practiced. Moreover, the incumbent will promote an environment representative of the mission and values of the organization that is rooted in the Catholic health care tradition and inclusive of all who seek care. Critical to success in this role is the ability of the incumbent to: translate strategy into action plans; form close working relationships with the clinical and operations leaders within the care site, region and system; advocate for the use of the EMR and other clinical information systems; encourage benchmarking, sharing of best practices and collaboration among all clinicians; build momentum and excitement around physician engagement. Another key aspect of this role will be continued relationship engagement with our in-network hospital partnership with Kaiser Permanente. Primary responsibilities of this position will include:
Your experience. We expect excellence, which is why we require:
Your next move. Now that you know more about being the Chief Medical Officer of Good Samaritan Medical Center we hope you’ll join us. At SCL Health you’ll reaffirm every day how much you love this work, and why you were called to it in the first place.
