We are seeking an RN to join our Operating Room (OR) team which includes surgical technologist, nursing assistants, schedulers, instrument technicians and MD's ! Surgeries in this unit are team based amongst these specialties:

• Neurology
• Thoracic
• Cardio vascular
• Vascular
• Complex ENT
• Robotics
• Gynecology
• Oncology
• Urology

This nursing position works 72 hours every 2 weeks. Currently, schedule includes:8 hour shifts, weekday call as needed, 1 weekend shift (ususally call) per schedule period. This position is benefit eligible.

Demonstrates the ability to establish an environment of safety for the surgical patient

• Implements protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedure.
• Confirms identity before the operative or invasive procedure
• Verifies operative procedure, surgical site and laterality
• Applies safety devices
• Implements protective measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical sources.
• Performs required counts.
• Manages specimen handling and disposition.

Demonstrates the ability to assess, diagnose, implement and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of the surgical patient.

• Applies principles of aseptic technique while establishing and maintaining sterile fields
• Performs skin preparations
• Ensures perioperative environmental sanitation
• Monitors for wound contamination
• Classifies the surgical wound

May serve as a circulator or scrub during operative procedures. Demonstrates knowledge about the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other invasive procedure.

Required:

• MN RN licensure required
• BLS
• Minimum of 1 year OR RN experience, or completion of an approved Periop 101 program, or approved student experience or 2 years experience as a Surgical Technologist

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
